The Clare Woods Academy computer lab
is a valuable resource for both students and staff. Teachers use the lab to supplement classroom activities. Programs in the lab give teachers
the opportunity to present material to students
in a different and engaging way.
Programs available cover many areas of the school’s curriculum including: phonics, reading, reading comprehension, math, concept mapping and idea organization and banking. The lab also has many multimedia tools available for student and staff use. All computers in the lab have access to the internet, so that students and staff can utilize this tool in a convenient and closely monitored way. Each class has the opportunity to reserve time in the lab,
up to twice a week, for 30-40 minutes per session.
The Clare Woods computer lab is spacious enough to accommodate a full class and still have room for students who need more computer time than has been scheduled for their class.
Students and staff working in the lab are assisted by the school’s technology coordinator. The technology coordinator works closely with each classroom teacher to monitor student progress, help students achieve their potential and assess program effectiveness.
The technology coordinator is also available to help staff with their technology issues, questions and needs.
Clare Woods Academy is dedicated to using technology as a daily part of our students’ education. The staff is always looking for new and innovative programs and ways
to incorporate technology in our curriculum.
