Computer Lab - E T S

The Educational Technology Services (ETS) Lab provides Clare Woods Academy students an opportunity to use computers to enhance the lessons they are learning in the classroom. Teachers are given a list of programs to choose from and they select what they think will benefit their students. It is the ETS Lab’s goal to supplement the classroom curriculum with computer based activities. Programs available to classrooms cover a variety of subjects including: phonics, reading comprehension, math and typing. Classrooms use the ETS Lab up to twice a week for forty minutes each session.

Clare Woods Academy has made great technological strides over the last couple of school years. We added twenty two brand new computers across the building. Each room has at least one computer and one printer. We have a computer network, which allows us to use network based programs. These can be accessed from any networked computer in the building. We have networked our ETS Lab, occupational therapy, two of our high school classrooms and our library. Our network allows students and staff carefully monitored access to the internet. We have an internal blog site, which students can use during our Friday Clubs. This blog stays completely within Clare Woods Academy, to ensure the privacy and safety of our students. We have also added a media center, which helps us create multimedia projects. Students and staff use the media center to edit photos and audio and to create films. Our media center even has web page creation software. As part of our media center we purchased two digital cameras and a digital video recorder. In addition, we bought a scanner, a microphone, and a color laser printer.
